Dealing with Holiday Stress

This time of year is stress-filled for many reasons. Below are some keys to dealing with the stresses of year's end and helping to keep you healthy during the New Year.
Remember everyone handles stress differently. Recognize how you handle stress most effectively and implement this strategy early when difficulties arise
ACTIVELY cope with your stressors! For example, try any combination of the following:
- Physical activity! Continuous activity using your large body muscles of the body is a good way to relieve tension
- Writing about your thoughts and feelings is an excellent way to release tension
- Talking with others is an important outlet
- Laughing and crying are natural ways to relieve stress and show your true emotions
- Participating in enjoyable activities is a good distraction and stress reliever. Try reading, playing with children, yard work, or a forgotten hobby
Active strategies for coping with stress are preferable to passive methods of dealing with stress
